Doom-The-Dark-Ages-Recensione.jpg

  • I livelli mech e drago risultano inutili e ripetitivi
  • Le mappe aperte sono belle da esplorare ma rischiano di rallentare troppo l'azione rendendo l'esperienza di gioco un "singhiozzo"

Hardcore Gamer - 5/5
Doom: The Dark Ages is AAA gaming at its best, with huge set pieces and memorable moments around every corner of the beautiful environments that only add to the highly-polished and heavily-addicting gameplay. Id Software hasn't held back any punches in creating one of the most grandiose and large-scale games in recent memory, utilizing their big-budget funding to create a 100% user-focused experience that makes the player feel immensely powerful without forgoing a sense of challenge or difficulty. The classic Doom formula has been deconstructed and reformed into a techno-medieval bloodbath, with gaming's original one-man army going on an unbridled rampage of demon-slaying destruction that somehow tops the scale of the iconic franchise yet again.

Dexerto - 3/5
Above all else, Doom: The Dark Ages has utterly fantastic combat. Moment-to-moment action is among the best in series history. But ultimately, in a desire to expand on a winning formula, id Software has fallen short of the high bar it set with Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal.

ImpulseGamer - 4/5
DOOM: The Dark Ages is a fantastic experience from start to finish. Mixing up the gameplay of its predecessors drastically, while still feeling like DOOM.

Metro UK - 3.5/5
Another mini-reboot for the father of FPS, but while it's less complex and challenging than Doom Eternal it's still a fine homage to the seminal original.

GamesRader - 3.5/5
While Doom: The Dark Ages is a solid game, the ways it differs from previous titles are largely to its detriment. Most of what's praiseworthy about the Slayer's 2025 adventures are what's translated from older entries, while new features like the melee focus and mech sequences feel like fumbled missteps the series would be well-advised to forget going forward. Still, the joy of blasting cacodemons with a shotgun is never truly lost, and the over-the-top aesthetic will always elevate the experience.

DigitalTrends - 3.5/5
Doom: The Dark Ages delivers another dose of reliable thrills by building on the foundation established by its excellent predecessors. The power fantasy of it all is more potent than ever, but Id Software's experiment in excess proves that there is such a thing as "too much" when it comes to video game spectacle.

GamersHeroes - 95%
DOOM: The Dark Ages is the most badass DOOM has ever been. A killer soundtrack, first-person melee combat better than it has any right to be, and the most intriguing version of The Doom Slayer we've ever seen.
LootLevelChill - 9.5
In all the ways that matter, Doom: The Dark Ages is a pure power fantasy, loading you up with outlandish weaponry and lethal powers and unleashing you on the horde.

Playstation Universe - 9.5/10
id Software once again found a way to reinvent the DOOM formula, adding new gameplay elements such as the thoroughly enjoyable shield saw. DOOM: The Dark Ages is nonstop, adrenaline-fuelled thrill ride from start to finish. This blockbuster demands your full attention as the best FPS this year so far.

XGN - 9.2/10
The Doom Slayer returns in amazing fashion with riveting gameplay, exceptional variety and gorgeous design. It might just be the best iteration of Doom so far, even though some elements pull you out of the game's adrenaline-filled tempo.

CDAction - 9/10
The shield and melee weapons haven't changed the character of Doom, it's still fast, furious and brutal. Despite my initial misgivings, The Dark Ages swept me away completely, which I particularly appreciate given that Eternal is, in my opinion, one of the weakest instalments in the series.

GamerGuides - B
In lesser hands, The Dark Ages would be fun but forgettable. In Id's hands, this is a deep action experience solely focused on a relentless, but brilliantly controlled flow state. It's a game that takes the simplest, yet coolest ideas and commits completely to them with peerless execution, making sure above else, it's sick as hell.

Console Creatures - 9/10
Doom: The Dark Ages bridges the old and new, delivering an exciting campaign to stand and fight against the demons of Hell. It's much more focused than its predecessors and fun because id Software's ability to continually refine the Doom formula to feel different enough that it never gets boring. Between new weapons and skills, the Doom Slayer is a remarkable character, only held back by how little we know of him. He's been given the tools to save a world actively trying to end his freedom, which leads him down the path that bridges the older games to the newer ones.

Jeff Gretsman - 4/5
Doom: The Dark Ages is a hell of a game with supremely satisfying combat that looks great 100% of the time. Even if the last game left you feeling a little cold, this one is most definitely worth your time.

PostMode - 7/10
Doom: The Dark Ages is a solid entry in the reboot franchise and a worthwhile experiment in slower combat, but not quite the sensational follow-up to Doom Eternal I was hoping for. The techno-medieval setting is an audiovisual feast of tentacles, viscera and cobblestone, even if the narrative doesn't do it justice. And yes, you can still rip and tear until it is done. For most of you, that will be more than enough.

Xboxera - 9.5/10
DOOM: The Dark Ages takes us back to the Slayer at his most powerful, stylish cape and all.Twenty-two levels of mayhem, excellent pacing, and furious combat make this entry my favorite in the series yet.

GamingBolt - 8.5/10
In short, and please excuse the unholy wordplay, it's a sacrilicious ritual of stripped-down slaughter that's worthy of possession.

WellPlayed - 9.5/10
An amazing new array of systems reinvents DOOM once again, delivering a bombastic and brutal new way to smash demons. With awesome new cosmic threats dying to meet the serrated edge of your shield, The Dark Ages may well be the best age for any aspiring Doom Slayer.

ProgressBar - 8.5/10
DOOM: The Dark Ages is a bold side step for ID Software. It ultimately succeeds in reinventing the classic DOOM formula yet again, in what is undoubtedly another bombastic, relentless and just plain fun shooter. There's more than enough new here that it avoids feeling like a retread of Eternal, and it still provides plenty of that pure, unadulterated chaos the series is known for. The soundtrack is, sadly, unremarkable, and I wasn't entirely sold on the more open levels, but these flaws are not enough to deny the onset of The Dark Ages.

OnPS - 8/10
Is Doom: The Dark Ages what I was hoping for from the Doom series? Not quite. Did I enjoy the game anyway? Definitely! Even if it seems a bit strange at first to engage in so much melee in a doom game, it works wonderfully, and the more skills you unlock, the more flexible you become in combat. This motivates and offers a small challenge. However, the game is simpler overall than Doom Eternal. Unfortunately, there are some less successful decisions. The story was never the big highlight of the Doom series, but in Doom: The Dark Ages it takes up more space without really getting better. The open areas also did not necessarily have to be - they contribute little to the game. The biggest criticism, however, lies in the soundscape: it is incomprehensible why the soundtrack receives so little attention.

GameWatcher - 8/10
Doom: The Dark Ages is a notable new entry in the long-running FPS series with a flavor and gameplay ideas of its own, but it can feel oddly unfocused at times, plus not every change is for the better.
